Galapagos Travel trips are on chartered 16 passenger motor yachts. Your floating hotel comfortably carries you from island to island and visitor site to visitor site. To maximize your time on land, longer repositioning moves are normally at night while you sleep. Frequently you'll wake up to find the crew has magically transported you to a new island. The majority of Galapagos Travel trips are on the motor yacht TIP TOP III, although on occasion we might also use the Tip Top II, Coral, Sagitta or another similar vessel.

On-board instrumentation on all yachts includes satellite navigation, radar, sonar, single sideband radio, and cellular phone. All yachts carry a VCR with a natural history video library. All cabins are air-conditioned, have ample storage space, private bathroom with hot shower, and 110VAC outlets. The yachts are very spacious, with lots of indoor and outdoor reading / lounging / viewing areas. Each boat carries a crew of 8 or 9, including the captain, first mate, engineer, 2 sailors, 2 cooks, a waiter / cabin steward, and a university-level Naturalist Guide.

TIP TOP III - The 98 ft, steel-hulled TIP TOP III was built in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2000/2001. She is owned, and occasionally still captained by Rolf Wittmer - the first person born in the Galapagos Islands. There are 10 air-conditioned double cabins (4 on the bridge deck and 6 on the lower deck). On the bridge deck, 2 cabins have a double bed, and 2 cabins have 2 lower single berths. On the lower deck, 2 cabins have double lower/single upper berths, and 4 cabins have double and single lower berths. The interior is very attractive, and features a library/conference room and a spacious dining room. There are extensive outside viewing (both sun and shade) areas, all with very comfortable, cushioned lounge chairs.

Coral I - The 100 ft, steel-hulled, CORAL I was built in Germany, and is annually updated and refitted in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She has a crew of 10 and carries 16 passengers in 10 air-conditioned double cabins (3 cabins with lower twin berths (that can slide together), and 7 cabins with a
lower double berth & an upper twin berth), each with a private bathroom and hot shower. All interiors are beautifully finished in teak and gleaming bronze. Common areas include spacious indoor and outdoor dining/ lounge areas, a conference area, and extensive sun and shade decks. The yacht is fully equipped with all modern navigation instrumentation and safety features, and meets or exceeds all international safety standards and pollution guidelines.

TIP TOP II - The sister ship to the TIP TOP III, she was built in Ecuador in 1998. 85 feet in length, with 9 air-conditioned, comfortably-sized double cabins, all with private bathrooms and hot showers.

SAGITTA - A work of art and beautifully appointed, this 104 ft Scandinavian trawler was totally refitted and converted in 1998 into a classic Darwinesque 3-masted motor sailer. Although classic in appearance, the SAGITTA has all modern navigation equipment, safety features, and a desalinization water system capable of making 1,500 gallons per day. She has 10 air-conditioned, comfortably-sized double cabins, each with an upper single and a double lower berth. There is a vast amount of space throughout, including both inside and outside dining areas, a library, and a conference room.
